Spooky sangria: Blood red wine, brandy, honey + spice recipe

Halloween is just a day away, and if the thought of trick or treating all night with the kids is starting to sink in, you might want to hear this recipe for the adults! Filled with blood red wine, brandy, honey + spice + everything nice, this spooky sangria is perfect for any Halloween party!

You’ll need:

2 oranges, sliced into rounds
1 lemon, sliced into rounds
1 lime, sliced into rounds
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 cup brandy
1/4-1/2 cup local honey
1 (750 ml) bottle fruity red wine, such as Pinot Noir or Beaujolais
1 (12 ounce) can ginger ale
Colored sugar, for rimming glasses (try purple, orange, or black!)

To make:

In a large glass pitcher, combine half of the orange slices, the lime + the lemon. Add the brandy, honey + cinnamon stick, and stir gently. Slowly pour in the wine. Refrigerate sangria for at least two hours—or as long as overnight. The longer it chills, the more the flavor will increase.

When ready to serve, add the ginger ale to the pitcher + stir gently. Place the colored sugar on a plate, rub an orange slice around the glass rim + dip into the sugar. Fill glasses with the other half of the orange slices, and slowly pour in the sangria. Sip + enjoy!
