Honey, I treated the kids: Homemade honey nut butter candy recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup honey (try using GSCO honey that's from our very own bees)

  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup your favorite nut butter (crunchy or smooth peanut butter, almond butter and cashew butter are all great choices)

Directions

  1. Pour your GSCO honey into a saucepan and place over medium heat so that it begins to boil. Adjust the heat a bit so that the honey can continue to boil until it reaches the hard crack stage. This means the honey will reach 300 degrees. The process takes about 20 minutes.

  2. Remove from stove. Add vanilla and nut butter.

  3. Stir until mixture is consistent and pour onto a baking sheet lined with parchment. Be sure to do this quickly so that the mixture doesn't harden while it's in the pan.

  4. Place baking sheet in the fridge to cool. When the candy is thoroughly chilled, break pieces as you would brittle until you've reached an optimal serving size for your honey treats.

  5. Bundle pieces in decorative bags for your neighborhood trick-o-treaters. Store in the freezer until they arrive.
