It's the most wonderful time of the year and that means we're hands-on at Garden Supply Company! Interested in creating a holiday centerpiece using greenery from your own landscape or some we've picked fresh from the farm? Here's how:
Holiday Centerpiece
Cut or purchase your own greenery. Be sure to choose at least three types of greenery. We suggest cutting a base greenery, one or two additional evergreens to provide contrasting color, at least one type of berry and a dried highlight piece. Cut a piece of oasis to fit in your container and soak it until the oasis is totally wet but holds all of the water. As long as the oasis is wet, your evergreens should survive the holiday season due to their hardy nature. Begin placing your base greenery around the oasis. Some of our favorite greens are frasier fir, leyland cypress, cryptomeria and arborvitae.
Begin to place your variegated pieces to add color to your centerpiece. You'll only need a few pieces. To add yellows and blues, we suggest gold cripsii (yellow), eucalyptus (blue) and Arizona cypress (blue).
Intersperse your selection of berries. Fill in any gaps with taller pieces of your base greenery to add height.
Finally, add a little spunk to your centerpiece using curly willow branches, dried okra, faux birds, dried cotton, Christmas ornaments or anything else that tickles your fancy. Get creative!
Place your centerpiece in a special spot in your home or office or give yours as a gift. Sit back and enjoy the gifts of your garden!
